I can always count on myself to do the weirdest things.. I started featuring new cool spots on the island, you can see them by the 'HotSpot' title.. I go, I check them out, take some pics, write a review and go about my business..

I can not understand how I have been visiting the bestest, the coolest, my most favorite, the most me hotspot practically since it opened and have never featured them.. Granted, if you follow me on Instagram you would have seen either their salads or beygls pass by every other 'lunch' post.. But, here goes.. To the long overdue HotSpot blogpost!

Beyglz. The one place I've eaten practically everything on the menu but, I keep going back because they're THAT good!.. Beyglz offers a variety of meals for breakfast and lunch.. From bagels, to salads, to pancakes.. Whatever you're craving, they have it.. And mind you, they are healthy AF.. Everything is fresh, locally sourced and organic..

One aspect I appreciate them for is the fact that they support local artists and charities.. Whenever you go, there are either paintings on the wall or other art pieces by local artists.. At the moment, Goatchi's are on display and available for purchase.. Every month, there's a 'Benefit Beygl'.. The proceeds of that particular beygl go to a good cause to support our community..

My absolute favorite beygl, which I also recommend to everyone, is the 'Evita'; which consists of sautéed tenderloin strips, fried egg and chimichurri to say the least and my favorite salad is the 'Voltaire'; which includes grilled chicken, goat cheese and dried cranberries.. The 'Death by Omelette' beygl is also worth a mention because hello, bomb!

And if you don't know what to drink, smoothie of life.. 'Hale Berry'.. best of the best!

Aside from a comfortable and chill vibe, Beyglz offers bomb food while contributing to exposing our local artists and giving a helping hand to charities and those in our community who need it most.. So, for all I'm concerned, HotSpot of the year 2017 definitely goes to Beyglz!

And if you'd like to go but don't have anyone to go with, hit me up.. I'll never say no to Beyglz!

Happy 2018!*

Untitled

Here we are again.. In the blink of an eye, we made it to another beginning.. In retrospect, 2017 flew by.. There were moments that seemed to last forever and moments I wished never passed but everything comes and goes..

2017, was an indescribable year.. I wouldn't say it was the best but it absolutely was not the worst.. On a personal, emotional and mental level there is still a couple of things I need to address and give a place but they are mostly leftovers from 2016..

2017 has taught me to hold on to my heart's desires and be grateful for the small, big and everything in between.. Oh, and also, to be patient and to not be so hard on myself..

Remember the vision board I spoke about last year, guess what, I managed to accomplish the most important things on the board and I am incredibly happy about it.. This year, a new vision board will be up..

My goals are not that much different but I have added a new goal which is to focus on me more.. Selfcare and selflove are so, so important and sometimes you get lost in being there for others while you yourself need it the most.. I have decided to do away with anything/anyone that drains my energy, is irrelevant to my goals or messes with my focus.. It's not easy but in order to reach new heights, you need to let go of things that weigh you down..

So.. 2018 here we are.. I hope to be better and do better so I can look back on another year where I have accomplished the most important things on the list..

How's your 2018 looking?

Travel | Aruba!*

aruba, travel, must see, blog, fashion, style, explore, vacation, tripadvisor

I put down things I want and would like to do all the time.. Whether it be a full blown vision board or scribbles on the notes app on my phone, I put it down somewhere.. As time goes by, I check here and there, every now and then if I actually accomplish anything or have made things happen or not..

Aruba is one of the places that have been on the vision board.. Last time I went was 12 years ago and I barely remember it.. I mean, in the 12 years I've been numerous other places but I just craved and felt the need to go back..

This year my birthday was on a Wednesday.. Most years, I have an idea of what I would like to do, who I'd like to spend it with and how I would like to spend it.. This year was different, on the Friday after my birthday, we hopped on a plane and off we went..

Mind you that when adding Aruba to the vision board, I had no clue when I would be going, how I was going to afford it or who I would be going with.. But as you can see, it happened, we went, had a blast and came back one experience richer..

The most important thing to me was to be able to go to all the places and do all the things.. The major attraction closest to my heart was obviously the art district in San Nicolas.. I still can't believe I got to go there and see it with my own eyes.. It's so beautiful to me and a real treat to walk in the neighborhood..

This trip really meant so much to me.. I was able to disconnect and take it all in, just simply appreciate and for that I am super grateful.. What a way to start chapter 29.. Happy, appreciative and grateful!*

Review | One on One Make-Up Class with Ashna Coster!*

Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled
As many of you know, I am a make-up enthusiast.. Just like many others, without any professional training, most of what I know, I learned from Youtube..

So, when Ashna Coster, a Make-Up Designory certified pro make up artist and beauty expert offered me a one one make-up class, how could I say no?!.. There are many techniques, tips and tricks that you're not going to find on Youtube and this one on one class gave me the chance to ask all the burning questions I had too..

The concept of the class is as follows; you bring all your own make-up products and tools so you can learn to get the best out of your own favorite products.. What you don't own, you get provided in the class..

Level 1 is focused on the basic; foundation, correcting, concealing and setting with powder. Level 2 is focused on contouring and more extensive techniques used by make-up artists.

At the beginning, you get the chance to ask questions, talk about things you would like to focus on so the class is completely tailored to your needs and wants.

In my case, I brought up the fact that my skin color seems to change a lot so a product that worked for me today, might not work tomorrow. I was also very curious about high-end vs. lower end products and products that are holy grail products to Ashna. Even though it was a level 1 make-up class, I was a bit cheeky and asked about contouring and highlighting too. All my questions and topics I touched upon were handled.

The whole point of the class is for you to learn to do your make-up better, fall in love with doing it and most importantly, for you to become an educated consumer. It is also very important to focus on hygiene and be educated about how long products last and how to clean your tools.

I thoroughly enjoyed the class and felt very comfortable asking questions and learning new techniques. It's great to watch Youtube and learn but this one one class gave me the opportunity to learn hands on, see my work in comparison to a professionals work and better myself at how I do my make-up. Lashes weren't even part of the class but, guess who finally learned how to put on fake lashes?!

The techniques I learned and all the information gathered about color matching my foundation, correcting pigmentation issues, brightening the face, enhancing my own features and learning to apply fake strip and individual eyelashes; were surely new to me thus making the class absolutely worth it!

If you'd like to follow Ashna's classes too, don't hesitate to contact her on Facebook or Instagram
